Like Jonathan Livingston Seagull, I am an abandoned original. As an abandoned original, I have in turn abandoned the flock of education to become a teacher, to fly. I have been pronounced dead: death by pedagogy, spreadsheets, protocols, and other indistinct blurs of the administravia, its educrats, bureaucrats, speducrats, instructional coaches, and other peripheral members of its Council of Elders. I have fallen through their cracks and have been bludgeoned to oblivion. They celebrate my passing, yet I remain free.
